Yearly Band Events

Pep Rally

This event will be held during the school day. We will perform a few stand tunes for the student body and show support for our athletes. The rally generally begins around 3:00 and is complete by the final school bell. Parents are welcome to attend.

 

Visit to HS Football Game

During October the CSMS Band students will have a very exciting and unique opportunity to sit and play with the College Station HS Cougar Band. They will perform the CSHS Fight Song, School Song, and a few other stand tunes for the football crowd with the HS Band.

 

All Region Band Auditions

The South Zone Region 8 Band is comprised of the best middle school band members from each of the middle schools in College Station, Bryan, Temple, Belton and Killeen. Auditions for placement in the band will held on a Saturday in November at College Station HS and will run from 8:00 to 3:00. Audition materials will be available from the band directors in August. Students who successfully make the All-Region Band are expected to also commit to the clinic/concert.

 

All Region Band Clinic and Concert

Students who earned a chair during the All-Region auditions will travel to Belton for an extended rehearsal and concert. The students will be gone from approximately 7:00 AM until 7:00 PM. 

 

Veterans Day Assembly

This is one of the best concerts of the year.  The Symphonic Band will perform for our Veterans and community in a very moving way.  Parents and family are encouraged to attend.

 

Fall Fundraiser

Having a fundraiser is one of the most beneficial ways to help the Band Program financially.  The money raised from this fundraiser will be used at the Band Directors’ discretion and not limited to the following reasons: School Equipment Repair, Student Equipment Costs, Party Supplies/Costs, Band Camp Scholarships, Consultant Pay, Purchasing New Supplies, Student Financial Support.  There will be a prize chart explaining the incentives for selling Butter Braids.

 

Christmas Concert

Holiday music will be performed for family and friends in the CSMS cafetorium. All are welcome to attend!

 

Band Christmas Party

This is a night filled with fun, games and lots of pizza to celebrate your hard work during the first semester.  Approximate Date and Times are : 6:00 to 9:00. Admission is $5 for this event if you did not fulfill the requirements set forth in the fundraiser.  If you did fulfill those requirements it is free!

 

Band Clinic with Guest Clinician

This will be held during the school day over the span of two or three days in February.  We will invite a special guest Band Director to come down and work with our Bands to help them prepare for UIL Contest in April.

 

Solo and Ensemble

Students will be assigned a solo and/or ensemble by the Band Directors to be performed for a local Music Judge at this Contest.  The purpose of this event is for the student to work on and perform a specific piece of music near their individual ability level.  A rating will be given based on the performance of the solo or ensemble for the Music Judge.

 

UIL Concert and Sight-Reading Contest

The band will travel and perform our UIL Concert selections to be critiqued by a UIL Judge Panel and we will Sight Read a selection for a different UIL Judge Panel.  Both Bands will attend this event. Parents are welcome to come and support your children.

 

Elementary Tours

The Symphonic Band will travel to the Elementary Schools that feed CSMS and perform Pop Music usually consisting of Movie Soundtracks and other fun pop music. Each Section in the band will also perform a short selection to demonstrate what their instruments sound like. This event usually spans over 2 school days.

 

End of Year Spring Concert

Both bands at CSMS, along with Cypress Grove and CSHS, will perform an End of Year Concert scheduled in May at Wolf Pen Creek Amphitheater. All are welcome to attend!
